Lexington Cemetery
Lexington Cemetery is a beautiful place for a nice, quiet walk in any season, but spring may be the most spectacular. The cemetery, which is also a national arboretum, hosts 170 acres and over 200 species of trees. There are also 3 large ponds, fountains, a 16,000 blooming tulip field and numerous annual and perennial gardens. It’s also a popular birding spot, with over 179 species being identified by the Audubon Society. Our local birding chapter, Central KY Audubon Society leads several bird walks through the cemetery at different times of the year. Its no real wonder that the cemetery remains to be a popular location for photos. Before visiting, highly recommend looking at the map of the grounds on the website, it is easy to get lost there.
